In these times of Coronavirus, we can't get out as much as we used to. Luckily for us, Google Maps is a great second resource for a nearly full examination of a store we're not so sure about.
Welcome to The Bronx! I don't have much information on this store, so here's what I got (please help me out in the comments if you have any info!) ...
I was given a tip about this store from the Submit-A-Store form on the Store Map section of the blog about six months ago now. I always check every location on Google Maps and make sure it's actually an A&P... because a lot of times I do receive stores that are definitely not A&Ps, surprisingly.
The only record of the store that I could find anywhere was on the archived A&P website, from the year 2000, which listed it as a location in New York. It must have closed shortly after that, as later store locators I have no longer listed it as part of the chain.
Upon first glance at these angled delivery bays, my first instinct is that is has to be a late model Futurestore, like this one in Seaside Heights. It's just so obvious to me. I'm telling myself "okay, okay, bet's on this..."
...and then I pan around to the front of the store, and see more of the same. It's gotta be that model. It's gotta be, right?
Nope. That's a glass-front, early Futurestore, like this one in Westtown. Another mystery A&P solved!
But I have to admit, now that I know this store exists, I really, really, really want to see some more photos of it when it was open, albeit none probably exist.
