...well, almost. Earlier this year we reported that A&P was purchased by a company, along with its Waldbaum's and FoodBasics counterparts. Winsight Grocery Business broke the news three days ago that the buyer's name has been released-- it's called American Legacy Brands. They're going to be licensing the A&P, Waldbaum's, and FoodBasics names for many uses-- including store banners, private brands, and even baked goods? Here's what the brands are going to be used for:
A&P
Coffee
Tea
Drinks
Tea
Drinks
Seafood
Waldbaum's
Baked Goods
FoodBasics
Store Banner
Grocery Brand
Note that FoodBasics is also licensed to Allegiance Retail (Owner of Foodtown and Pathmark) and Metro Canada
But who's behind all of this?
Steven Shamula of Brooklyn, New York. He's previously licensed electronics brands... so this is definitely in his neighborhood. American Legacy Brands is a new venture for him and his company. We here at A&P Preservation wish him the best of luck, and we will be contacting him in coming weeks for more information.
If you are Steven Shamula, please email hello@ap-preservation.com

Where can I buy A&P brand black tea?

Hi JoAnne, this was just a rendering by the company who is licensing the name. A&P Tea or any A&P Products are not available for sale.
