Today at P's and Q's we're taking a look at one of the most deluxe Fresh remodels out there... in the bustling suburb of Kenilworth, New Jersey. This was one of 76 locations Acme took over at the 2015 bankruptcy. They got the cream of the crop, so of course they'd take Kenilworth. If I remember correctly, this store was doing about a million a week back in the day! Let's start the tour!
Sav-A-Center look on the outside. This store likely started out as a Super A&P Foodmarket. There's more remnants of the older decor inside the store.
Odd typeface for "Fresh" in the vestibule. This was a common issue at Fresh remodel locations... I guess it would've been cheaper?
And hey, check out that cart-wipe center! Nice A&P logo on top.

Overstocked produce department! Quite bountiful. Notice the "Fresh 1.0" color scheme on the walls. Most 2.0 remodels got white walls sadly. The treatment here looks great!
This is awesome. "Kenilworth's Freshest Produce". Similar to what Acme is currently doing in their Quality Built remodels. Every store gets a "____'s Freshest Produce." Obviously very unique for a homogenized company. I could never picture Ahold doing any of that.
Meat and Seafood looking very Fresh! This had to be one of A&P's top stores... look at all the love!
Starbucks in the front end! And a seating area! Starbucks definitely upgraded their kiosk here... this is the newer "iron clad" style, which has a lot of industrial accents.
I'm lost for words... this has to be one of the Fresh remodels that came out great. Some turned out to be disasters... especially in smaller stores (*cough* Ocean City, Maryland) that couldn't hold the departments, so it was almost just a sign swap.
Store tops out at 17 checkouts... standard for a 90's-2000's store.
Interesting that there's a drop ceiling here... the ceilings are unusually high for this type of store. The Sav-A-Centers I've seen usually have incredibly low ceilings.
