Taking a look at another store that was part of the first 25 to close in the 2015 bankruptcy. This was one of the four Superfresh locations to close during this time. Surprisingly, only three Philadelphia locations closed, yet the stores that were put up for sale at the end were never sold.
I am not very familiar with the liquidation companies handling these, but I do know that Liquid Asset Partners liquidated all of A&P's stores, dating back to the Farmer Jack days, and beyond. I saw similar signs on other stores being liquidated. Smart marketing!
A very standard 2000's-styled produce department. Check out the mural on the drop ceiling cove... Really nice!
This store had most likely started out with the late 90's Pre-Fresh decor, with the paper-ripping script font behind the lettering; which is probably what these light beams on the walls are left from. This store did not receive new aisle markers with the remodel, surprisingly. Even stores that weren't updated in over 20 years (see Clinton, and Warren) sometimes got the new aisle markers.
The classic frozen section, with Birds Eye and America's Choice frozen produce at 60% off. These photos were taken a week or two before closing, too (according to tehshadowbat, photographer)
An interesting piece lay out on the empty aisles. I saw similar things like this during my visit to the Clinton A&P, where the store had "END OF DAYS" written on the calendar, and employees folding, and leaving their aprons behind, paying homage to the store's service.
Meat and other service departments line the back wall, with more shelving in a state (or aisle, haha) of despair.
Once a Superfresh, now this store has been rebranded as a TjMaxx.
